The Walker Brothers:
Cory and Jarrod Walker are an instrumental duo
that have been performing professionally for 4 years. Cory playing
banjo, guitar, and resonator guitar, and Jarrod playing mandolin have
been fortunate enough to play many great venues. Cory has played on the
2003 IBMA Awards show as part of the "YOUNG AMERICAN BLUEGRASS
IDOLS". Cory and Jarrod were invited to play as the core band for
IBMA's "Kids on Bluegrass" segment in 05 and 06 and were part of the
youth band, "Juvenessence" that performed on the IBMA FanFest main
stage. They each were invited and taught on the workshop stage at the
06 IBMA FANFEST. Cory and Jarrod starred on a CBS television special
with Keith Urban in 2004 and on ABC in 2005 with Earl Scruggs, Ricky
Skaggs, and Kix Brooks. In 2005 and 2006, they were asked to play at
the National Wild Turkey Federation's Award ceremony, opening for
Alison Krauss and Union Station in 05 and Diamond Rio in 06. They have
performed on the Grand Ole Opry several times.
They have two recordings currently available. The second one,"No Need
For Words" has recieved extensive airplay on Sirius Satellite Radio
among other stations. Their most recent CD, recorded in the summer of
2006 includes guests artists Ricky Skaggs, Chad Brock,
Robert Hale, Darrell Webb, Cia Cherryholmes, Mark Fain, Jason Moore,
Jim Hurst, Cody Kilby, Clay Jones, Phil Leadbetter, Matt Leadbetter,
Jim VanCleve, Andy Leftwich, Scott Vestal, and Clay Hess.
Cory and Jarrod play in the "Bluegrass Parlor Band with Cory and Jarrod
Walker." Their band stays very busy in the Spring and Fall Seasons
playing throughout Florida and southern Georgia. Other prominent
musicians who have been in this band include Aubrey Haynie and former
IBMA president David Crow.
Cory also is the banjo/ resonator guitar player for Sierra Hull and
Highway 111. Cory just finished recording Sierra's new Rounder project,
where he was the banjo player, playing alongside Sierra, Dan Tyminski,
Tony Rice, Barry Bales, Stuart Duncan, Jim VanCleve, Jerry Douglas, Clay
Hess, Rob Ickes, Ron Block and Alison Krauss.
